Mike Rungie
…at the intersection of good lives and aged care
Throughout his working life in disability and aged care, Mike Rungie has used approaches to stay close to the people using services. Developing an understanding of whether the services enable people to thrive in the way other citizens do. These repeated insights have led to a very different view of success in aged care. What causes mass service failure and how to sort out useful responses from optimistic ones, or just plain bad ones.
His move out of full-time work has enabled him to shift his focus from aged care to longevity. And to move from service provision to more experimental activity: start-ups, grass roots advocacy, co-design innovations, diverse partnerships, longevity ecosystems and life transitions.
Otherwise, he is discovering and enjoying many of those new roles that are the gift of living longer.
